- Is it just me that thinks this? To me it seems the FBI's worldwide long term manhunt for Kate is a bit excessive for a single murder (as a crime of passion) and insurance fraud (although that probably rates higher then murder to the FBI). I mean there were a *LOT* of FBI guys staking out Kate’s mums house for over two months (and remember this is a long time before she robbed that bank). Weird. Okay it could be Ed Mars’ private crusade but how big a loser would that make him?
- I am wondering if perhaps Kate’s dad was a much more important person then he first seemed. Perhaps an Other. The way Locke said they told them what she did and “they are not very forgiving”. Which when you consider Locke killed one of the Others earlier, Kate must have killed someone pretty damn important to them to be that unforgiving.
- Random sidenote: The Marshall chasing Kate was named “Ed Mars” after a character in a Raymond Chandler novel. That character turns out to be the big bad guy incidentally who is suspected of having someone killed and keeping his wife concealed (almost captive) to cover it up. In the book he actually wasn't the killer (The killer was the sister of the main female character). In the film he was (well the Bogart one anyway). But anyway, I don't think there is a clue in the name.
